“There in the Water” is a song I felt truly inspired to write. Although I wrote it for a class, I found myself distinctly drawn to the specific message of this song. It was a song I didn’t initially want to write, but the first time I was inspired to play the flowing piano part was a spiritual experience and I knew this was the song I had to write. I didn’t want to write it because I knew it would be hard. I also knew it would concern topics that I hadn’t grown a strong testimony in or felt like I knew enough about. I decided to study these topics in depth to grow my testimony and write the song that deserved to be written. I am so glad that God gave me the inspiration for this song and the will to write it. I have found that this song has different meaning for each individual listener. I know what it means to me, but I will let you discover what it means to you. That’s the most beautiful thing that music (and religion) can offer, after all.
